The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to open in a representative office in Libya next year, Aghasalim Shukurov. Azerbaijan’s chargé d’affaires Libya.

According to him, in 2008 an Azerbaijani delegation headed by Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev and in 2009 a delegation headed by SOCAR vice-president Khoshbekht Yusifzade visited Libya.

“As part of these visits, meetings were held with the top management of the National Oil Corporation of Libya and specialists of Nortg Africa. The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral relations and other issues. Also, Azerbaijani-Libyan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held its debut meeting this year,” he added.

According to him, on individual employment contracts, many Azerbaijanis work for British and Germanic companies in Libya.

“Taking thin into consideration, SOCAR plans to open an office in Libya next year ", he added.
