Official Baku unambiguously backs Georgia`s territorial integrity, Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry`s spokesman Khazar Ibrahim said commenting on his country`s stance on the Georgia`s South Ossetia crisis.
He noted Georgia` steps to ensure its territorial integrity correspond to international norms and the Charter of the United Nations.
On the proposal to create a buffer zone in the Nagorno-Karabakh region Armenians put forward in the wake of the latest developments in Georgia, Ibrahim said “it just demonstrates that Armenia is not interested in the conflict`s settlement within the ongoing peace talks”.
Khazar Ibrahim underscored Azerbaijan has never built its foreign policy on precedents. “In case of necessity the country will use all existing opportunities to restore its territorial integrity,” he added.
